MARK GONZALEZ x HARE JP

Hare Japan is a Japanese brand whose website I peruse quite often. I've even worked out which little strings of Japanese mean what. It didn't take me too long because I spend a few hours a month on there. But what a surprise I came across when I found that they had either obtained a license for or had launched a collaboration with Mark Gonzalez. For those that are scratching their heads and are thinking 'who' N.B. Mark Gonzalez is an o.g. skater from day that wore Supreme before it turned in to the Streetwear style dictator that it now is. The t-shirt's are dope too - check them out. Go on. They're going for  ¥ 6,372. I think that that is probably about the £40 mark plus whatever you would have to pay to get it from Japan via a proxy. Then you'd probably have to luck out with customs so all told it could go up to around the £80 if you were severely unlucky. It's not an £80. There are no £80 t shirts.

PURCHASED: RT Japan Blazer

A few weeks ago I bought a tasty little three button blazer by a brand I'd never heard of called RT Japan. Apparently it's a Japanese influenced brand that was started by a French man - a Mr Ramdane Touhami - in Japan. Dig a little deeper and you find that he's a fucking weirdo. Sort of. Well, his Wikipedia entry says that he ran a concept store with Marc Jacobs and Jeremy Scott for less than a year in Paris. His website says that RT and Resistance were two brands, RT came first, that were about resisting fashion. The quote that introduces the two lines includes him saying that they hired non-professional sales staff. How? How do you hire non-professional sales staff? Are they late all the time with dirty fingernails and a sloppy appearance or did they have no prior experience? Who knows, or even gives a shit. Anyway, this is how I wore this blazer when I went back to Derby for a weekend:

You have to excuse the scowling because it was way too sunny. The In-N-Out Burger tee I got on a family holiday in 2007. Looks as good as a double double but I've never actually tried to eat it so I can't tell you if it tastes as nice. In fact, don't ever try to eat t-shirts.

Stone Island are making me want to buy a coat, for spring summer 2014.

As a marketing student, you'd think I be astute to marketing bull$hit. I'm not, if anything, I entertain it.

Case in hand: buying a coat for summertime.

Stone Island have created another masterpiece that I probably won't be able to buy due to my dire lack of funds, I honestly believe this may be the perfect coat. It's waterproof, has breathable taped seams, and has a hood to keep my soft hair dry and comes in lavender.

It reminds me of this old photo from the Stone Island archives.

This beauty is available to buy here for 410 euros, I'm unsure how much that equates to in British Pounds Sterling as I do not work in Le Beaura De Change.

Pigalle x Nike collaboration

Pigalle is one of those category defying street wear brands; taking inspiration from couture Parisian fashion, along with street style and urban culture. Their style is similar to their French neighbour APC, but slightly more niche than their American counterpart Supreme.

I was first put on to the brand by watching ASAP Rocky's music video for Goldie:

Pigalle have recently announced that they are collaborating with Nike on a limited edition capsule collection, comprising of accessories, shorts, basketball jerseys and 2 pairs of trainers - Air Force 1 mid and Air Force 1 low. Stephen Ashpoole, Pigalle designer is a massive basketball fan- hence the basketball themed collection.

When I first heard of the colab, I was expecting something abit more French, the collection is really well put together and nods to street style although, I feel that if they utilised the vast array of Nike lifestyle/running products (Windrunners, Air Max, tracksuits, new Lunar and Flyknit technology) they may have been able to create a wider appealing collection, but maybe that's the whole point, to keep the collection for a devout few?

Check the collection here and here

ACNE

Acne is one of those brands that you are supposed to like regardless of what it looks like. Just because they’re all Nordic and use nice colours doesn’t necessarily mean that you should go out and buy the whole collection. Or even rate it. That said that though there is definitely some truth in the way that almost everything that they touch is excellent. Allow me to explain:

Acne Red Suit: look number one is cool. I’m not about to ever be wearing a red suit to anything any time soon but as far as red suits go then this one is pretty rad. If you are going to wear a red suit then it’s probably going to be about single button blazers and cropped trousers.

Acne stupid flare denim trousers: the middle guy though has to have thought “FUCK YEAH I got cast by Acne” and probably got a hard on for the potential free samples he was going to lay his hands on. Then he sees those trousers and he’s like “Nahhhhh c’mon man” and tweeted #disappointment. The top half is pretty good because the shirt has a bold print but doesn’t lose the subtlety and there might be a scarf under the blazer. That the blazer closes so high up the neck is really cool. You know, kind of hints at the shirt you’d wear with it but gives nothing away.

Acne natty sharpness: the third guy looks, in my own honest opinion, like he’s going somewhere important in a fast car with some incredibly attractive persons of the gender which you prefer. The car is probably Italian. The best bit about this guy though is that the pocket square has almost fallen out of the pocket and he just doesn’t give a fuck. I like to imagine that he works in an accountancy firm and he’s the very dapper rebel that just looks for ways to piss off his manager. Flopping out the pochette is probably his middle finger salute.

Han Kjobenhavn's Winter Trench

You can tell when a brand has serious menswear credentials; they cast random old guys or Jason Dill as the model in their lookbooks. For instance with Supreme and Jason Dill this could be taken as the New York Skate brand of nauseating over hype sending out a message that they are with all intents and purposes still a New York skate brand. Part of me is thinking that maybe Jason Dill and James Jebbia or someone are bros that go around calling each other by their first names: “Hey Jason Dill wanna come throw Supreme stickers out of the window of my car as we drive through New York?” with the following response: “Ahh James Jebbia it’s like you read my mind!”.

The other brand that has done this that has made me think that the clothes are probably better than they are is Han Kjobenhavn. They make shades that make me want to be the kind of dickhead that wears shades all the time. I’d never take them off. Nor would I take off this bad boy winter trench coat that retails for 5500DK. I had no idea what that actually converts to in GBR but I checked and it’s £611.25. I assume that shipping would be free. Also, and I’m presuming here, I think that DK stands for Dansk Krone and that’s a few letters short of Dank Krony. Shotgun that that’s my new hip hop stage name.

The old guy in this shot is noticeably not Jason Dill though. I hope that he has some immense back story and one of the Han Kjobenhavn guys had to talk him in to doing the look book and that he wouldn’t accept money but instead demanded something irritatingly odd.

Denham remake American Psycho

Brilliant remake of two of the most memorable scenes from American Psycho. Well made video, 10/10, would watch again.
